The system is going down for system halt NOW!

FINALLY got around to migrating all the configuration to falco. psrv is now out of server – replaced by a much more powerful system. you should feel a difference when loading websites – almost 3x the processing power… and a lot less noise :) .

browse the wiinternet

December 22nd, 2006

opera trial was released today it seems.

good

  • plays flash
  • renders pages accurately
  • full javascript/everything you’d expect from opera

bad

  • doesn’t run at fullscreen res – ugly black border
  • zoom breaks sometimes
  • can’t navigate with d-pad
  • can’t hide toolbar
  • no gestures! :(

even though its named a “trial”, i would call this a beta.  or an alpha.

thunderbird 2.0b1 is niice.  i’ve been using it at work all week and am now convinced that i should swap my home client from outlook2003.  as it was the last day at work for a week or so, i spent some time tidying up my desktop.  nice and clean it is :) .  its amazing how much more of a pleasure it is to work when you have a nicely setup pc.

seasons greetings to all, and stuff.  enjoy the stinking hot weather while you can!

14才の母

December 21st, 2006

japanese people are really good at keeping busy. i say this as one of my japanese friends that i manage to keep in contact with came online for the first time in many, many months on monday (hi mao :p). he quit his job in preparation for yet another trip to add to his travel portfolio – this time to work at a hotel in china. pretty amazing stuff.

anyways, he was kind enough to inform me that i missed a drama this season that i should be watching. hell, when someone tells me something like this i can’t really hold back. i queued all 10 episodes of the series up and woke up that morning 9gb short of my already strained quota.

「14才の母」, translating simply to “(A) 14 year-old Mother” is a story about… well yeah, a very young mother. after just 30 minutes into the drama i realised this was not one i could let linger over the next week or two. i had to watch it through, ASAP!

what can i say? i watched 5 episodes for two days (only just managed this with work and stuffs) and realised on the second day there was an 11th episode. which got released only today! pretty good timing really.

while the progression of the story was quite predictable (yeah well), it really is one of those must-watch dramas, in a way that it makes you think about things may have never thought of before. the casting is really quite good too – lots of familiar faces acting in familiar roles, but if there’s one advantage to this -
they really know how to act their part. might help to have a box of tissues handy, though.

goddamn i feel so tired lately… really looking forward to a break from work.
