sony is hax… or not
February 15th, 2006most of you will know i’m looking at buying a new notebook pc. i currently have my eyes on sony’s new core duo SZ series lineup. even though i’m not that concerned with the cost of the machine, using their simulator results in a price tag of..
which works out to roughly AU$4800.
OK, so thats a bit excessive. I realise sony will pile on the costs for higher specs, and for the interchangable parts it is probably cheaper to buy them separately.. so i looked around for about 10 minutes for some prices on ram and hdd drives.
so we’re paying 70,000yen for 2 x 1gb sticks of sony chosen ddr ram.
SODIMM DDR2 1GB PC4200 CL4 ¥10,400
that seems a lot more reasonable. 20,800yen for 2gb. 49,200yen saved. gg sony.
this time the 60gb to 120gb change adds on around 30,000yen.
Seagate ST9120821AS (120G 9.5mm) ¥29,900
i guess this is a lot closer than the ram. if i buy the hdd separately i will end up with a 60gb drive for free though ^^;
287,800+20,800+29,900=338500yen
just under AU$4000. a bit more reasonable
